Volcanic Eruptions

I left my work incomplete. Yes, you read it right. I left my work unfinished to write this blog. Well, that’s unusual, but unusual has become common nowadays. Have you experienced this? One moment you are happy, another moment sad. Do you also experience these “Griselda moods”?

Well, I like to remain inside my head, think a lot of things about a lot of things. It’s like a volcano smoldering beneath the surface, which will probably never erupt. But if it does, who knows what it will do. Did you just imagine a volcanic eruption? I bet you did. You would have imagined fire, lava, destruction, devastation; well, we are programmed to think this way. Volcanic eruptions played a significant role in shaping the earth as we know it today, erased many life forms, created many more. We have been taught humans are superior to other life forms; we can think, create, learn, develop, but this could be the biggest lie you ever heard.

We talk of triumphs and victories over others, other countries, and another tribe. Oh, what great fools we are, some politicians wage wars and we kill each other, we kill whom we called brother, friend, uncle till yesterday, one shitty reason by so-called leaders and we fight like dogs. How can you say we are superior? And do you think this is new? Nah, it’s been going on for centuries, since the time history is recorded and before that. We never learn, do we? That’s because we don’t use the organ which was supposed to make us superior. If only we did, we would raise questions before a so-called leader asks to raise weapons, target someone or some society, we would ask questions, and don’t fight over if someone wears something and someone don’t; instead we would focus on studies, think how can we uplift others, think about the good works we can do, collaborate with others towards betterment.

It sounds good. But the problem is we don’t do that. We love to follow so-called self-proclaimed leaders whose only goal is to divide, control, and rule. Rule over your minds, your thoughts, your decisions. Sometimes, I imagine how the world would be without religion. Sigmund Freud says religion is an illusion, he explains many agree with him, yet they feel a strong connection or, rather say, an attraction towards religion, they are ready to do anything for the sake of it. I see religion as a powerful weapon used by some to control the masses. The best weapon you can think of, no one is allowed to raise a question, go against the rules, because if you did, you are committing sin, you will go to hell, blah, blah, blah.

Don’t you feel trapped in all these hypothetical rules, regulations, religions, boundaries, definitions? Here’s how I feel:

Buried inside a tree trunk,

Held straight.

I gaze at the endless sky,

Longing to be free and fly,

Fly far, far away,

But the casket is too strong,

Everyone thinks what I want is just wrong,

Wrong, by their definitions.

Religion is a powerful weapon, used to control the masses.
